Test Structure for Lower Level (3–4) The test is approximately 2 hours and 5 minutes with Math, Verbal, Reading, and an unscored Writing Sample. Schools primarily look at the Percentile Rank (1–99%), which compares the student to other high-achieving students of the same grade and gender from the last 3 years. Unlike the SAT/ACT, wrong answers hurt your score. Strategy: ✔ Correct: +1 point ✔ Blank: 0 points ✔ Incorrect: –¼ point Hence, students are encouraged not to eliminate answers randomly, as leaving a question blank may be better statistically. |
Test Structure – Middle Level (5–7) The test is approximately 3 hours and 10 minutes. Score Range: • Middle Level: About 440–710 per section (Total 1320–2130). While the writing part is unscored, it is still sent to schools (Creative prompt for Middle). |
Test Structure – Middle to Upper Level (5–11) The test is approximately 3 hours and 10 minutes. Total Score: • Upper Level: 500–800 per section (Total 1500–2400). While the writing part is unscored, it is still sent to schools (Essay or Creative prompt for Upper). Mathematics includes Algebra, Geometry, and Arithmetic. Reading section has approximately 40 questions from 7–8 short passages. Verbal section includes 30 synonyms and 30 analogies. This level also includes an unscored experimental section testing new questions. |
